Dr. Mohamed Ahmedna

Dr. Ahmedna and his wife Dr. Ipek Gokotepe are close friends of Dr. Sabri and Dr. Husseiny as well as business associates. Dr. Ahmedna is Associate Dean at Qatar University. Formerly, he was Professor and Director of the Center for Excellence in Post-Harvest Technologies at the North Carolina Research Campus, Kannapolis, North Carolina, USA. His research focuses on value-added product development and consumer research, with emphasis on functional foods and human health.

During his tenure at North Carolina A&T State University (NCA&T), Dr. Ahmedna served as Principal Investigator or Co-PI of a multimillion- dollar research portfolio, filed 3 patents, authored/co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts/proceedings, and taught graduate courses. Dr. Ahmedna served on scientific review panels for the USDA, NSF, and DHHS and provided peer-review for 10 scientific journals. Dr. Ahmedna is the recipient of multiple awards of excellence including the 2008 Thurgood Marshall distinguished faculty award, the 2007 NC A&T Outstanding Senior Researcher Award, and the 2005 USAID George Washington Carver Agricultural Excellence Award. He is a member of eleven professional/honorary societies. Prior to joining NCA&T in 2000, Dr. Ahmedna worked as a senior R&D scientist at Technology International Inc., LaPlace, LA.

In 1998, He completed a Ph.D. in Food Science and a M.S. in Applied Statistics at Louisiana State University, USA. He recently earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mohamed (Hamada) Samir Al’awdun

A nephew-in-law of Dr. Sabri, Hamada has a Licence in Jurisprudence and Diploma in Public Law from University of Alexandria, Egypt. This is in addition to training on International Arbitration. He is a scholar in wills and inheritance and a certified arbitrator in Civil and Commerce Laws.

Hamada is a practicing Attorney at Law in Alexandria, where he was in charge of the legal and administration offices for several private companies and is currently the director of the Abaza Group for Chemicals.

Hamada authored books including a reference book on Public Administration and has participated and founded several civil and non government organizations.

May Mohamed ElBatran is the managing director of TMA Development, Training and Consulting, , the first education company in Egypt to be awarded the integrated management system ISO 9001:2008, 14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007 and the 18th member company of the United Nations Global Compact in Egypt.

Dr ElBatran is the Academic Advisor and International Relations Officer of the High Institute for Specific Studies HISS a family owned educational bachelor granting institution with over 12000 students, and a lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University.

She founded and chairs the CSR arm of the group; People Development Foundation PDF to promote youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, innovation and employability. She founded and is a board member of the Egyptian Federation for Electronic Games EFEG in 2010 and recently became a member of the international electronic sports federation IESF.

Dr. ElBatran serves on the board of the Egyptian Junior Business Association EJB and of the Middle East Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship MCSBE. Dr. ElBatran acts a pro bono training consultant to the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jeddah and is the youngest member of the Arab Thought Forum in Jordan under patronage of his royal Highness Prince Hasan Bin Talal.

May started her education in Egypt in the French catholic College De La Mere de Dieu, received her bachelor of pharmacy from Cairo University, her PhD of health policy from Swansea University in Wales, the United Kingdom and is in an ongoing state of learning…. She was born on May 25th 1975.

My name is Ayman Elhosseiny, Medical doctor, consultant of internal medicine, diabetes and obesity. I am also a writer, I wrote more than 200 medical books in different fields including alternative medicine. Travel is my main hobby in addition to sports, reading and writing and playing oud, I travelled to most european countries and to the U.S.

I am honoured to participate in the Dr Zeinab Sabri Memorial Foundation. I would like to say something about her, she was not only my sister in law but a real friend, she was a great person and a sincere friend, I will never forget my first visit to the U.S. she and my brother Dr. Abdo have been of great help to me.

Mohamed is an Agriculture Engineer who is a retired Deputy Minister of Agriculture in Egypt and resides in Alexandria, Egypt. Currently, he is Agriculture Consultant for the Graduates’ Training Center, American University Cairo and advisor to the Association for Returning Back to Nature, Alexandria.

Mohamed is a member of the Agriculture Association for Rural Development and the Scientific Society for Technology Transfer, College of Agriculture, Alexandria University. He is a founding member of Almaroof Philanthropic Foundation, Alexandria, Egypt.

Mohamed is a well-known prolific writer that presents highly technical and scientific knowledge for layman readers. In addition he authored over 150 book and agriculture guide books on agriculture production and animal husbandry. He gained fame through his contribution to the Dar Al-Maarif Publisher Encyclopedia known best as the Agriculture Knowledge Collection.

Dr. Galal is Professor of Cardiology and Angelology and Consultant Cardiologist, Tanta University, Egypt and Consultant Cardiologist and Chairman of Cardiology Department, Dibba Hospital, UAE. He is a Fellow of European society of cardiology, France; Fellow of International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound, USA; Distinguished Fellow of ISCU. He was awarded the Young Investigator Award in 1999 and 2001. He has more than 30 publications in International journals and the European Society Of Cardiology Conferences. More than 40 presentations in International Congresses /Atlanta, Chicago, USA; Mȕnchen, Germany; Nice, France; Morocco; Bahrain; Saudi Arabia; United Arab Emirates; Iran; Turkey; Egypt;, Austria. He chaired the XVIII World Congress of Echocardiography, Vascular Ultrasound and Allied Techniques in Fujairah City, United Arab Emirates on November 21-23, 2013.

Dr. Galal is the son of Dr. Nagib ElKilany the physician and well known writer and novelist, whose work has been translated to several languages.

Hend is an archeologist and anthropologist with specialization in Egyptian Antiquities. Having been born and raised in Port Saied; one of largest Egyptian Seaports, attracted her to New Orleans, Louisiana when she became a US Citizen. Both Port Saied and New Orleans share the heritage of adopting French Cuisine to their own taste and being a destination for folks who enjoy good eats and hearty meals. In both towns, people consider getting together for a meal a form of entertainment, an occasion for festivities and an opportune time for the extended family to having fun and mull on how great were the old times.

Hend got her degree from Cairo University, where she spent a good part of her adult life in Cairo. Cairo and New Orleans share many culture aspects including the similarity of the unique architecture of Garden City in Cairo and the Garden District uptown New Orleans.

Hend is a gifted writer of short stories, which are endeared by the young and the old alike. Her future plans include writing a book in English and Arabic about her experience as a mother of a son with Williams Syndrome.

Dr. Rasool Kenarangui
Dr. Kenarangui is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering and is Director of the Radiation Measurement Applications Laboratory at the University of Texas at Arlington. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering, MS and PhD degrees in Nuclear Engineering from Iowa State University. He has taught courses in electrical engineering and nuclear engineering. Since 1995, Dr. Kenarangui has been a member of the research group at the Energy Systems Research Center, at the University of Texas at Arlington. From 1976 to 1980 he worked as a research associate at Science Application Inc., in Ames Iowa, USA. From 1980 to 1995 Dr. Kenarangui was a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Tabriz, in Iran. He was Visiting Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada from 1988 - 1989. He is Licensed Professional Engineering in state of Texas and his research interest areas includes power systems analysis and operation, power plants and electric power generation, reliability analysis, application of fuzzy logic and control in electric power systems, and radiation detection and measurement.

Dr. Ramu M Rao
Dr. Rao is a close and dear friend to Dr. Husseiny and Dr. Sabri as well as a close business associate for over two decades. Dr. Rao was a Director at North Carolina Research Campus, (NCRC) Kannapolis, North Carolina, and Professor of Food Science at the Louisiana State University (LSU), Baton Rouge, LA; with expertise in utilization of rice bran and sugar cane and food preservation. Major areas of interest are Food process engineering; Economic utilization of agricultural byproducts; Post-harvest technology of rice; Environmental pollution.

At TII-VA, Dr. Rao has provided, and is providing active consultation on many projects. He provided consultation on the development of a process for production of long shelf life mango and strawberry juice without the need of refrigeration, preservation of fresh dates, and meet irradiation. He also consulted at TII for a project funded by US Army NATICK on dehydration of dental meals using ultrasonic radiation.

Dr. Rao conducted various research and development projects in several areas, including food process engineering; food industries engineering; synthetic foods and dietary substitutes; and food science. He performed and managed advanced food research in food preservation; food fats and oils; food enzymes and food additives; and marine food products.

Dr. Rao professional experience includes: Director of Research (Food & Drugs), Associated Medical Enterprises, Princeton, NJ; Professor, Acting Head, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor (Food Science), Louisiana State University (LSU), Baton Rouge, LA; Technical Advisor to Government of South Vietnam on food preservation problems, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Dr. Rao holds a Ph.D., Food Science and Technology, and M.S., Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA; B.S., Chemical Engineering, University of Houston, TX; B.SC. University of Mysore, India. He was U.S. Atomic Energy Fellow, Louisiana State University.

Naglaa Shourbaji, M.D.
A pediatrician at Ochsner Children's Health Center, New Orleans Louisiana, Dr. Shourbaji is board certified in pediatrics and has been a full time member of Ochsner's pediatric staff since 1985. She has numerous international patients from different ethnic backgrounds. She speaks fluent English, Arabic, and French. Dr. Schourbaji was the Chairman of the Child Protection Committee for several years and has special interest in the area of child mistreatment as well as general pediatrics. She has always received a high rating in patient satisfaction.

Dr. Naglaa Shourbaji graduated valedictorian of her class at Sacred Heart School. She finished pre-med and medical school at Alexandria University Faculty of Medicine, graduating in the top 1% with honors. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at Alexandria University Hospitals followed by a pediatric residency at Ochsner where she served as chief resident.

Having been on the Ochsner Staff for almost thirty years was intriguing. According to Dr. Shourbaji, “I am now enjoying seeing the babies of the children I saw as babies when I started my practice”.

Naglaa was born in Alexandria, Egypt the same birth place of Zeinab; however, they have never met in Alexandria. When both met in New Orleans almost twenty years ago, they revealed shared memories. Naglaa’s husband, Nabil Shourbaji graduated from the same College of Engineering as Zeinab, her brother Shaker and her sister Heba. Recalling events from the past it was surprising how the families of Naglaa and Zeinab together were close in many occasions.

As Naglaa describes Zeinab: “our friendship was amazing, she was not just a friend but more of a sister to me. Zeinab cared about the well-being of everyone and her enormous capacity for giving.”

Rosanna Tomiuk
Rosanna Tomiuk is a former Canadian National Team water polo player turned singer/songwriter, life & business coach and triathlete.

Throughout her 10 years playing for Team Canada, she won a Junior World Championship and claimed various silver medals at the Pan American Games, FINA World Aquatic Championships, Commonwealth Games and FINA World League Super Finals. She also received scholarships to Loyola Marymount University and the University of Southern California, where she claimed a silver medal at NCAA Championships. In her first triathlon in 2013, the Montreal Esprit Olympic Distance Triathlon, Rosanna won a bronze medal.

While in the midst of her water polo career, Rosanna released her first album, titled Worlds Collide. She also released a single, Made It, which she dedicated to the Canadian Olympic Team competing in the London 2012 Olympics. Made It kicked off Rosanna’s career in writing music for sports events and teams. She was commissioned to write a song for the 2014 Olympic Luge Team and also partnered with some of our 2014 Sochi Olympians to write a song and create a music video to cheer on Team Canada at the Olympics. Rosanna recently signed a publishing deal with the largest independent music publisher, IMAGEM. She was also very proud to bring her music to the TEDxMontrealWomen stage in February 2014. Her latest songwriting commissioning was for the Dr. Zeinab Abdelsalam Sabri Memorial Foundation, a foundation committed to changing the world through education, arts, sciences and community service.

Rosanna is the co-founder of THIS IS ME, a company that coaches people to develop their talents, create meaningful stories with their lives and understand that success and character are allies. Her passion for sport and music, two seemingly opposite endeavours, compelled her fascination with human uniqueness and personality (What do I do when I don't fit the "box"?!). While competing internationally with Team Canada and releasing her first album, she also co-founded THIS IS ME. She can be found giving keynote addresses at conferences, in elementary and high schools or facilitating workshops in corporate offices, where she helps teams increase their human capital. Some of her clients include Hollis Wealth, Strathmore Landscape, Orsyp Inc. and Olympians, Tracy Little and Jeremiah Brown.

Rosanna is a graduate of The Dale Carnegie Course (where she received the Highest Award of Achievement) and a certified StrengthsFinder, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (Level I and II), The Birkman Method and Strong Interest Inventory coach. She has also coached the Self-Expression Leadership Program with Landmark Worldwide.

As she creates the future, Rosanna imagines herself traveling the globe to help people become the best versions of themselves by day and then morphing into a rockstar by night!

She currently resides in Montreal, in the heart of Monkland Village.
